Hair Extension Care

It is essential that you look after your hair extensions to ensure they remain luxurious, healthy, soft and shiny for as long as possible. We plan tosell a range of RegalHair branded aftercare products in the near future to keep your hair in fabulous condition but until then please abide by the following general aftercare advice.

Shampoo, conditioner and suitable heat protection are all necessary for your hair extension maintenance. Keeping them soft and shiny, good aftercare will also prevent hair from unwanted breakage.

Our range of products will be SLS and Paraffin free as well as vegan friendly. Our own brand after care products will be been specially formulated with the essential ingredients to expand the lifespan of your hair extensions. Perfect for hair lacking nourishment. Using argon and macadamia rich oil treatments will do wonders to tired, distressed hair.

The following are general rules of thumb to follow when caring for our hair extensions.

  1. It Takes Two to Tangle
Before washing your hair extensions, it is important to ensure that your hair is thoroughly untangled using a wide tooth comb.
  2. Wash, Rinse, Repeat
Massage shampoo into the scalp, once the scalp is covered work the shampoo through the rest of their hair with your fingers. Never shampoo/condition too close to the extension bonds as this can cause them to loosen/breakdown. Always use Shampoo & Conditioner that are free from Sulphates and Parabens as these can harm extensions when used often. A great haircare range is the Maui Brand which you can find in all major high street retailers.
  3. Hydrate Stressed Strands
Argon oil is the perfect antidote to frizzy, dull and dry hair. Apply a thick argon oil mask onto your hair weekly to restore moisture.
  4. Protect Your Investment
Extensions are not cheap, and for that reason we want you to enjoy yours for as long as possible. Using a thermal spray does wonders for protecting your hair when it is exposed to heat from a blow dryer or other heated styling tools. Never use heat beyond 180 Degrees to avoid strain.
  5. Save Your Hair
For heavy hair a clarifying shampoo can be a hair saviour. Clarifying your hair will give your locks a full-on detox, rinsing it of pollutants and styling product residue.
  6. When in Doubt Brush It Out
Using the correct brush for your hair is key to avoiding unnecessary breakage.
  7. Style the Show
Using the right styling tools is also imperative to good hair care. Heated styling tools with temperature controls built-in will allow you to determine how hot your stylers are, and ensure they are not too hot for your hair type. (Try and keep below 180 Degrees)
  8. Shine On
As hair extensions are not attached to the scalp, the natural serum that normally comes from our hair needs replacing. Dry oils which contain the lightest silicones and oils create the most believable, natural shine.
  9. Holiday Hair
Holiday hair needs additional care. UVA rays can fade your colour and UBV leads to breakage. Avoiding chlorine as much as possible will also prolong the life of your extensions. Chlorine can fade colouring of hair extensions.
  10. A Hairytale Ending
Finally, please always try to sleep with your hair in a plait at night and refrain from using tight elastic hairbands, silkl scrunchies will be your best friend when wearing our hair! Hair extensions require strict maintenance protocols, but as long as you follow them your extensions will lead a long happy life.
